Open (body) Space – Spring 2009
April 30 – Naomi Sparrow and Anne Pitman with Kim Garvelle
Beginning with Body-Mind-Centering®'s patterns of Developmental Movement, we will find our way to self-initiated, self-nurturing movement. Celebrate Spring's shining fullness, warmth, and expression. Ritual Maypole included with wondrous flutist Kim Garvelle.
May 7 – Alexis Andrew
This class wil focus on using imagery, text, and voice as a means to opening up your dance with a partner, in a group, and solo. Bring your funny, poetic, profound, silly, curious selves.
May 14 - Christine Graves - Feldenkrais®
Play with the movements in oft-ignored parts of ourselves. Is the skeleton a set of dominoes when stood in perfect balance? Yes! And so the smallest move at one end reverberates throughout. Discover how this movement is efficient, effortless, and esthetically pleasing! Bring a few folded bath towels for comfort and support.
May 21 - Sandra Yanover - Trager®
I see! Do you think it might be possible to improve your ability to see clearly? If so, this workshop is for you. Join me in movement, guided imagery and games that will give you insight into the pattern of seeing you have created, will offer you new options and tools, and will clear and energize your visual system. Bring a journal.
May 28 - owen tuff
We begin with the body - finding a path inward to free stories and truths available to us through voice and movement. We will combine some exercises from Theatre of the Oppressed with improvisational dance to build a meeting place for our conscious and subconscious self.
June 4 - Marlene and Bob Neufeld
Discover the use of breath, intention and attunement by exploring and embodying planetary energies. Learn to use different breaths and ways of walking to move deliberately from state to state. We will be walking and breathing with the sun, moon, and some of the planets. This work was pioneered by American Sufi master and originator of the Dances of Universal Peace, Samuel Lewis in the 1960's. This evening will expand on the previous evening of planetary and elemental walks, but no experience is necessary.
June 11 - Elizabeth MacKinnon - Solo or Not
What moves you? Individual, duet, contact and group improvisational scores and skills will provide the structure for lots of movement and some stillness. This class will be about observation, expression, and relationship. Time to dance!
June 18 - Jude Kerridge - Authentic Movement
Open the space, hold the space, allow yourself the luxury of moving exactly how you want to move, without judgment. Let the body move as it will and process the feelings that emerge.
June 25 - Anne Pitman - Summer Solstice Dance
Dance your fire! Celebrate your life and the Sun's fullest, in full bloom, keeping a crack of the window open for the incoming dark.
